GRANT
GUIDELINES
OF THE
BEHMANN BROTHERS FOUNDATION
Revised 8/1/24
The Behmann
Brothers Foundation was established in October of 1979. Our
primary areas of interest are: agricultural research and
education, schools, youth groups, healthcare and service
organizations.
In order to
use its financial resources prudently and because the Behmann
Brothers Foundation receives more requests than it can fund, the
Foundation has established the following Grant Guidelines for
its grant-making activities:
GRANTS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR THE 2025 YEAR BETWEEN FEBRUARY 1,
2025 to MAY 1, 2025.
Grant applications should be mailed via regular mail (United
States Postal Service). WE WILL NO LONGER
ACCEPT GRANT APPLICATIONS VIA EMAIL, FED EX OR UPS.
Grant
Guidelines Included in Directives to Applicants:
-
Grants
will not be made to an organization whose headquarters are
located outside of the State of Texas. Grants will primarily
be made to organizations in the counties of Nueces, Aransas,
Bee, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Live Oak, Refugio, and San
Patricio.
-
Our
Foundation has developed the grant application form found
on our website. This form, with no modifications,
is the only form which will be accepted for
consideration.
-
Applications will be considered only from non-profit
organizations that are currently recognized by the Internal
Revenue Service as tax-exempt non-profit organizations that
are public charities (in accordance with the provisions of
the Tax Reform Act of 1969). To be considered, the charity
must be currently listed as a public charity that is “not a
private foundation” by the IRS on its most current
Cumulative List of 501(c)(3) organizations. Absent such a
listing, the charity must provide as part of its application
package a determination letter issued by the IRS within 90
days prior to the application date verifying such status.
-
As part of
the application package, a copy of the IRS Form 990 as
signed and filed with the IRS for the most current tax year
of the applicant must be submitted to the Foundation.
-
All
requirements of the Foundation’s application process must be
satisfied before a grant application will be accepted for
presentation to Foundation’s Board of Directors for an
official vote. To be considered in any year, the
application must be received between February 1ST
and May 1ST of that year.
-
The fact
that the Foundation approves a portion of a grant request
creates no obligation on the part of the Foundation to give
further grants for the project which has been partially
funded.
-
The Foundation will not make grants to
any individual or governmental entity.
-
The
Foundation will not make grants for political
or lobbying activities.
-
All funds
distributed by the Foundation must be used for the project
designated in the application.
-
All proper grant
applications will be considered. All approved grants will be
funded by June 30th.
